Classification and application of three common types of centrifuge tubes

1.plastic centrifuge tubes

The advantage of plastic centrifuge tube is transparent or translucent, it has little hardness, and the gradient can be removed by puncture method. The disadvantages are easy to deformation, poor resistance to organic solvent corrosion, short service life. Plastic Centrifuge Tubes have a cap, which is used to prevent sample leakage, especially for radioactive or corrosive samples, and also to prevent sample volatilization and to support the tube from deformation. In the selection of this point also pay attention to check whether the lid is tight, in the test can be covered tightly, in order to reach the inversion does not leak; we all know that in the plastic centrifuge tube, commonly used materials are polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), etc., of which polypropylene PP tube performance will be relatively good, so we in the selection of plastic centrifuge tube as far as possible to consider the polypropylene plastic centrifuge tube.

2.Glass centrifuge tubes

The use of glass tubes should not be too large centrifugal force, the need for rubber pads to prevent the tube broken, high-speed centrifuges generally do not choose glass tubes. Centrifuge tube lid closure is not good enough, the liquid can not be filled (for high-speed centrifuges and the use of angular rotor) to prevent spillage, loss of balance. The consequence of spillage is contamination of the rotor and centrifuge chamber, affecting the normal operation of the inductor. Ultracentrifugation, the liquid must be filled with Centrifugal Tube, because the ultra separation needs to pump high vacuum, only full to avoid deformation of the centrifugal tube.

3.Steel centrifuge tubes

The steel centrifuge tube is strong, not deformed, can resist heat, frost, chemical corrosion, it is also quite widely used but the use of the same should avoid contact with strong corrosive chemicals, such as strong acids, strong alkalis, etc.. Try to avoid the corrosion of these chemicals.
